Hi all,

We have been getting the error;

"The database table "Table_name" cannot be found. proceed to remove this table from the report?

When doing a preview of some reports we have written.  if you select no the report completes no problem, however the issue is we need to publish tese reports to out Business Objects server in InfoView and therefor the rports do not run.

I have discovered the error only occurs with table names that exceed 27 characters.

Any one have a solution, is there someway of creating alias names for the tables.  We have tried renaming the table in Database Expoert but the error remains.

Using Crystal Reports 2008 connecting to a Pronto ERP system.

Cheers!

why not create VIEWS for all tables that have names greater than 27 character?
and then instead of linking the tables into your CR call teh VIEWS with short names. It should get around with the issue,

Cheers!

Thanks for the quick reply.

Excuse my ignorance but how do I do that, my Crystal Reports skills are quite limited.

you create the VIEWS in your database

and in you CR,
choose Field Explorer --> right click on database field and choose database expert
now you'll see the pop up where you can choose the tables, double click on the view/table you want and it will be imported to right hand side of the window.

there after, you can use the fields frm the table

Ah, unfortunately the application is proprietory, we do not have access to modify the backend :(

I will go back to the vendor to see what they can do for us, thanks.

yeah you can ask them to rename tables with some shorter names and you need to update your CR accordingly
