outlook 2003 attachment

I have MS office 2003 std and exchagne 2003. If I attach a file when I send emails, no problem. But if I open word or excel to create files and click send to recipient as attachment, email pops up to put recipient's name but when I click send, nothing happens. I googled it and try what they recommended but no luck.
Please help

Start with the easiest thing and do a repair to your office installation.  Open up Word or Excel and click on Help and Detect and Repair

I already did a detect and repair before posting this but no luck. any other idea?
