Resource mailbox issues between ex2003 and ex2010

My exch 2003 resource mailboxes are setup to use “Direct Booking”, I do not use the Auto Except Agent. This has worked great for years and years. Now that I have introduced exch 2010 into my Exchange infrastructure, the exchange 2003 resource mailboxes seem to stop “auto/Direct booking meetings” mail gets to the mailbox, but doesn’t book the meetings. Seems to have happened after I upgraded our Exchange 2003 Address Lists and Recipient services to Exchange 2010.

My goal is to continue to use Direct Booking instead of the Exchange Auto Except Agent.

As a test, I moved one of the broken EX2003 Resource mailboxes to Exchange 2010. Now users on exchange 2003 can book resources with that resource mailbox  – but exchange 2010 users cannot.

At this point I just want to get my Resource mailboxes working again – with the least amount of administration. Can someone provide advice?
