Outlook - Contacting the server for informattion

When users open a specific e-mail within Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, and/or Outlook Web Access (Exchange 2007), the result is a brief hang where the application displays the following message (along with a progress bar):

"Contacting the server for information"

Eventually, the e-mail opens, however, when scrolling down the message described above will appear again.  The e-mail uses a substantial amount of HTML.

This problem does not occur in Microsoft Entourage running on Mac OSX Snow Leopard.

I would like to know if there is a setting that is causing this problem.  Turning off HTML within the e-mail application is not an option in this situation.

Please advise.  Thanks.

It is probably trying to retrieve any images in the HTML code from the remote server.

If you have anti-virus software running on your Exchange server and/or client that scans messages then it is probably hanging up for a few moments while the remote server is being accessed to download the images.  If the Exchange server has anti-virus software but the Entourage server is not running any then this is most likely why it is hanging on Exchange and not Entourage.

The issue has occurred on each PC that I have tried which is approx. 4 computers and 4 different mailboxes.  None are huge, they are approx. 1-2 GB in size with an Exchange server mailbox limit of 3 GB.  All other e-mail funcitonality is working fine.

AVG is running on most client computers as well as the Exchange server.  However, I have had the problem occur on a PC that is/was not running AVG.  The Mac with Entourage does/did not have an AV, however, it access e-mail the same way as the Outlook clients (via Exchange).
