Is it possible to add a computer to a Windows domain by using AD, as in adding 'new computer' in an OU then successfully logging in at the client, rather than manually joining the computer from the client through the system applet in control panel.

You can pre-stage the account by creating it manually in ADUC, but you still have to join the client to the domain in the normal way - pre-staging the account simply helps when for example you don't want the new computer account to be created in the default computers container.
