My wifi connection keeps on droping and I verified that my wifi connection is at the top (preferred wifi network).  What else can I check and how to resolve.  I checked the event viewer and noticed the following:

I'd check the wireless signal.

If your Wireless NIC is disconnecting it'll be trying to renew its IP address frequently.  This could be due to interference or poor siqnal.

Try getting close to the Wireless access point or router and see if that helps.  If not try changing the channel on the wireless access point or router.
