Hello xperts,

I have to reconfigure our AX4-5i iSCSI SAN which we will be using for VMware ESX as datastore  but before that I am  stuck up at system software update, where I went  System-> Software and got to know that existing system software is FLARE- Operating Environmen & Version is: 02.23.050.5.004 and after googling  I found that latest FLARE OE version is 02.23.050.5.709.

I am not sure whether that is the latest one.

Can any one please help me out with this:

1. which is the latest FLARE OE for AX4-5i and from where I can download it ?
2. steps on how to update it.

Awaiting response ASAP.

Thanks in advance! :)

Is your unit under maintenance? You usually have to be under maintenance to get the upgrade. It is performed through Navishpere. There  you have to run a validity test. You also have to have access the EMC's Powerlink to enter your configuration information from the validation test. This lets you know if your system supports the upgrade. Then the software assistant helps you peform the upgrade.

Thanks rbarbhart for your comments.

Finally I find the solution on my own.

I googled a lot and found a solution for it.

Below are the steps what I followed to update the FLARE OE(02.23.050.5.004) to FLARE OE (02.23.050.5.710).

1. Logged into to http://powerlink.emc.com (as I had a EMC login ID already, if you dont have login and register)
2.Browsed for this location "Support > Software Downloads and Licensing > Downloads C > CLARiiON AX4-5"  at Support page.
3. And dowloaded the latest FLARE OE(02.23.050.5.710) and required utilities(optional depending upon your require ments).
4. Brought down the ESX server(VMs etc) which were conected to SAN so that I do have to worry about the Data loss etc.
5.And then from Management Client(System from where I am access AX4-5i storage array) logged into Navisphere Express via browser from Management IP address of SAN and copied the dowloaded latest FLARE OE to Management Client via removable drive.
6.From Navi Express home page went to Software> Choose file>FLARE OE 02.23.050.5.710  file(Which I dowloaded from the EMC website).
7.Upgraded the FLARE OE, where it starts checks for PreInstallation checks etc.
8. By looking at Software upgrade you will come to know the status(%) of upgrade.
9. Once its completes upgradation of FLARE OE(It takes some time be patient)you see a message called "Successfully upgraded software on the storage system. The storage system may need to be rebooted.Pleas wait a few minutes before refreshing page." after this you need to wait for 5 to 10 minutes(Which I prefered) as during this time NaviExpress will be unaccessible(you get browser error saying web page is unaccessible).
10.Once you NaviExpress is accessible please check the version from Sofware option again you see the FLARE OE version is updated to 02.23.050.5.710.

PS: In case if you have any doubt depending upon your Storage Array you can take help of EMC Customer Support or else Live chat.

Sorry if I have missed any thing. I tried my best to explain the steps. :)

Regards,
