Exchange Management Folders MRM does not work

We need to set a policy to delete any items older than 2 months form the deleted Items to keep the mailbox sizes down. The server is an exchange 2007 sp1.

To achive this we have setup a Manged folder policy. The items moved to the Deleted items folder for more than  2months are set to del. We have scheduled this policy to run every sunday and have applied the policy to the required user mailbox.

This does not seem to be working. Is there anything that we need to check or is something conflicting?

you need to change the retention period starts setting from "when item is moved to the folder" to "when delivered..."
you should also consider upgrading the service pack level (many fixes included in SP2 and more in SP3)

We wanted deleted items that are two months old to be deleted hence we selected "when item is moved to this folder". Will test and let you know how it goes. Thanks

if you use when moved, and i delete the message after 59 days, then the message will be 119 days old before it is removed

I only need it deleted after the emails have been deleted and are in the deleted item folder for over 60 days. so the email may have arrived 2 years ago but only need it cleared after it in deleted items folder for 60 days.The problem is we have users who never clear their deleted items! Do I still need to use "when moved to this folder or when delivered? Thanks
