SMTP High Availability in Exchange 2010

I've created a Windows 2008 NLB CAS array successfully in Exchange 2010.  However the SMTP MX record still points to only one server - Should I re-point the MX record to the NLB virtual IP address instead?

You should really use the Edge Transport role for this.  This will automatically load balance between hub transport servers.

But can you point the SMTP MX record to the CAS/HUB Transport NLB virtual IP address?  According to what I've read Exchange 2007 SP1 and above supports load balancing SMTP...

I'm not 100% sure to be honest, i thought it needed a hardware load balancer for HT load balancing.

Like i said, the correct way to do it is use a Edge Transport server
