go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings
(alternatively you can go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections).
Right-click on your newly created VPN connection and choose Create Shortcut, answering yes to create on desktop.
