laptop shut down after projector connects

has a pc that upon connecting to the graphics cable from the projector, it shuts down completely. what could be the causes?

Faulty VGA port / cable going into the laptop.  Otherwise a faulty graphics card / mainboard on the laptop.
Try an external monitor with a different cable and see if it occurs again.

not sure what's the exact cause. this was encountered in different location. back to local, no issue with the laptop.. will close the qn and reward points for suggestion

My guess would be broken pins on the cable it was connecting to at the different location.
