Is there a way to turn off, or schedule, Windows Indexing?  It indexes my files every single morning, and makes my computer run extremely slow while doing so.  I am running Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3.

You could locate the indexing service and turn it off.

However, a better approach (from my own experience) is to let the indexing complete fully. Once done, indexing the next morning on turn on averaged out to about 5 minutes or less. It was nothing to worry about once indexing had fully completed.

You can go to run type in services.msc and find the indexing service - double click on it and under "start up type" choose manual or disabled and then click the stop button.
