Exchange 2007 (SBS2008) Public folder rapidly growing

I have an SBS 2008 installation with Exchange 2007 (SP3).   About a week ago the size of the public folder store began increasing at a rate of around 1mb a minute.  We did not notice until it ran out of space on the drive.  The size before the problem was around 30gb and it ran out at about 540gb.

As soon as the store is mounted the issue occurs.  I have had to give up with the current store and went back to a version from around a week ago which will at least allow me to mount the store.  The problem is occurring and the database size rapidly increasing,  It is an SBS2008 installation so there is only one exchange server.  Circular logging is enabled and the Mailbox Database is unaffected.   I do not have a disk big enough to mount the current store but I have incremental backups over the last couple of weeks.

When you check the folder sizes using an outlook client they total around 32gb.

I do not know how to proceed?

Which exchange service pack you r using. i recommend you to install exchange service pack 3.

Its reporting 8.3 build 83.6 which I think translates to SP3

This problem was eventually resolved by Microsoft on a Business Critical case.  Deeply embedded in the logs was a reference to antivirus.  Was caused by a bad AVG update
