Dear Experts:

I have procured a ubuntu compatible server and planning to install ubuntu server 10.04 LTS. requirement is to configure dhcp, dns for local resolve and samba domain controller with ldap(fds/389 directory server) backend. I have small doubt that is fds/389 is of fedora product is it suggested to install in the ubuntu server, iam worried because it is going to be a production server. Please please suggest me. Thanks in advance.

If what you need is assurance then the answer is no from my side, there won't be any issues as long as you set it up correctly. There is a step by step from ubuntu site on setting it up.

What you need to do is put it on another server and test it and see if you get into any trouble, I have not gotten any so far.

I used the following link.

Sir, thank you very much. somehow this time iam more interested to make ubuntu server as my production server but i was only afraid for making 389/fds as a backend for samba domain controller since it is the product of fedora . wanted to know if somebody has implemented in the ubuntu production server. i think you have done this (ubuntu server+samba domain controller with 389 directory server as password backend) if working fine for you then i will also be happy to take it forward, please please suggest.
