Hi

In One HP prolaint Server the array configuration made and in that one was left for spare management. As of now one of the hard disk has went wrong and due to raid its working from another. I need to know whether the spare management has been taken by the array controller instead of the faulty hard disk. Please help me how to conbfirm this. Thanks in advance.

Do you have the HP array configuration utility installed?
There you will most likely get the information you want.

I'm not sure, but how about this:
I suppose you know which bay the faulty disk is in and which bay the spare disk is in (you should at least see this an acu).
Whatch the led's on each disk to see which has traffic. There should not be much traffic on the spare disk if it is not in use. A lame but maybe effective way to do it..... :-)
And of course replace the faulty disk asap.

I suppose you can also upgrade the acu software.......

Sorry if vage answers, but difficult when a don't have exact same config to compare with.
