I just got Fireworks cs5. I've seen two web-sites that do some cool things with buttons. Can I do this in Fireworks?
www.mannington.com
www.weathertitesystems.com

The buttons expand and give more info along with links. Any help would be appreciated.

You can do this with States.  Read some tutorials on Adobe Fireworks States.

Basically:

Create button/image one in State 1
Create button/image two in State 2
Add a hotspot on top of State 1
With pointer, right click on State 1
Select Add Swap Image Behavior
Select State 2

When I create the different states can I put a different link on each button at the time of design?

I don't see why not.  I have not tried it, but there is a link option for each hot spot.
