I have a Windows 2011 SBS, Exchange 2010, I use the integrated pop3connector on the SBS, the problem if that sometimes some mails are not being downloaded by the pop3 connector, usually all the mails from “Mailer-Deamon” always are stuck on the ISP user mailbox, and also some other mails are stuck in the mailbox, I know that sometimes there can be errors, but everyday always one or two mails are getting stuck and the work around is to enter to the webmail and delete those mails or download them by Outlook (I don´t why Outlook can download those mails but the pop connector wont).
What can I do?, I don´t want to enter every day to delete mails or to depend on outlook to download those emails.
Here is the log of an example of the errors.

Hi:

Absolutely the best solution to this is to stop using the MS Exchange POP3 connector.  You should change to SMTP mail, or even a third party pop3 connector which can be more robust and less prone to this type of error.  The MS supplied connector is not intended to be a long term solution, but rather as a short term work around while you setup your MX records, your ptr records, and get your ports forwarded on the edge device.

I can confirm fl_flyfishing's response, this is exactly the right answer.

I've had plenty of my own experience arguing with this software; it's balky and unpredictable, chokes on the smallest issue and these are its positive attributes! Seriously though, it can't handle BCC by design (see MS KB article 265739) and is not a solution long-term.

My suggestions:

1. If you can't ditch the MS POP3 Connector:

Some shops are restricted in the software they can install and others just prefer an all-Microsoft environment. If you must stick with this software I recommend adjusting your POP3 box setup so you have one external account to match each user on your server; this prevents some problems with duplicates etc.

2. If you can, but need a commercial solution:

If your company will only consider commercial solutions, try something like IGetMail or Hexamail. They work well and are fully supported (note that I have no affiliation with either product).

3. If you can consider Open Source:

If you are handling a large volume of mail, I'd suggest setting up a tiny Linux installation, preferably virtualised on your mail server. A simple Debian install would be around 200MB in disk space and Getmail and Postfix are merely an apt-get away, run like a dream with extensive logging and support all sorts of different requirements. In my experience the combination of Debian and Postfix with Getmail runs perfectly without intervention indefinitely.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the information,  I was hoping to find a Free solution hehehe..
I have a question, I have another server running Windows 2008 sbs, and I do not have these errors, can it be possible that the server hosting our mails is the one with errors??...

I will look into these pop3 programs, to see which one it´s the cheapest!! thank you,

I think MS have altered the POP3 Connnector's behaviour between 2003 and 2008 (but don't quote me on that); this is likely to produce different behaviour on the two platforms when comparing this functionality.

Thanks for the PopBeamer table, interesting stuff.  Don't forget to check sourceforge.net if you are keen on a free solution!
