Connect Windows 7 Computer to iPhone 3 via Bluetooth

After getting totally frustrated with the unreliability of a Nokia N97 Mini I have been given a friend's old iPhone 3. I did a reset and loaded it with the latest firmware OS 4.3 and tried configuring it. One thing I wanted to do was connect it to my computer via bluetooth (with the old Nokia whenever it came in range of the computer it would connect and automatically keep emails etc synchronised and enable me to send & receive SMS messages from a computer interface via PC Sync).

Unfortunately I am getting an error on my computer that says "Bluetooth Peripheral Device - No Driver Found" and my iPhone says it can't connect to my computer either and wants to "Forget" my computer. Is there any way of connecting iPhone the way I want or is iPhone little more than an iPod with some telephone features?

To my knowledge, there is no way to connect an iPhone to a computer through Bluetooth without being jailbroken.

Thanks for the confirmation.

All my research says your right except the comments in the Personal Hotspot section of the settings says that you can connect the iPhone to a PC to use the internet connection via Bluetooth. I would have thought that if you can do that you should be able to do additional connections via Bluetooth. Seems like a strage limitation to me.
