AS2 Movie Clip over datagrid issue

File attached. I am wondering what the best way is to cover a datagrid on the layer below a movie clip so that you cannot click on the datagrid while the movie is open. I have put a selecteable text field in the over_mc and a button in it, but I don't like that it changes the mouse as you roll around.

This sample file is part of a bigger project where I need to cover content in the layers below the currently active movie clip. What is the best way to do this (with out pointing code at the items below the top level movie clip)?
