I'm running windows 7 home premium with sql advanced 2008 express install and vs2008.  However, in the control panel I see also sql 2005 isntalled and I wonder if it's the express version.  I only have management studio for the 2008 express.
I tried to un-install sql 2005 from control panel but got message that some sql module is running.  I cannot find the admin tool->services on windows 7 home premium.  How can I tell if this sql 2005 is running and un-install it?  How to fix this?  Thank you
Also, I originally installed the sql 2008 express but I then run the sql Advanced 2008 with sp1 following that so would that create a problem?

Umm..  Bad news.  I have 3 instances on this pc.  Darn!  So, can I stop sql 2005, v9.xx, in the management studio and then un-install it from the control panel?  since i cannot find the services panel.

Sure, right click on your instance and pick stop.
You can also stop services from under configuration manager:
start->run-> sqlservermanager.msc           (for SQL Server 2005)
start->run-> sqlservermanager10.msc       (for SQL Server 2008)
