Using Mail with Verizon iPhone 4 prevents Outlook 2007 access

Using iPhone Mail to access my Outlook 2007 account with Verizon iPhone 4 (iOS 4 mail) prevents Outlook 2007 access and returns the message below.

The problem is iOS4 multitasking which suspends the iPhone 4 mail client. Force quitting iOS4 mail restores access. How can I configure Outlook 2007 to allow multiple access? I am using Verizon CDMA for access.

Task 'jim_lacey@charter.net - Receiving' reported error (0x8004210E) : 'Your mailbox is temporarily unavailable because another e-mail message is being delivered to it or another mail application is accessing it.  The server responded: -ERR [IN-USE] account is locked by another session or for maintenance, try again.'

What is the exact iOS you have on the phone?  iOS 4.0 caused problems with Exchange and yesterday Apple release v 4.3, so if you are not on 4.3 already, I would upgrade by plugging your iPhone into your computer with iTunes, upgrade iTunes and then the iPhone.

I have 4.2.6; I understand 4.3 not compatible w / Verizon iPhone 4; also latest iTunes; don't think I am using Exchange.

Whilst grateful for the points - this problem is presumably not resolved and thus should not be closed.

Do you want to continue to troubleshoot it?

Solution to upgrade to iOS 4.3 not applicable (yet) to Verizon iPhone 4.
