I need some advice on upgrading my video graphics card on an Intel DX58SO motherboard. I have
picked out a card that is moderately priced and has been highly  reviewed. The board is the XFX
Radeo HD 6870 1 GB DDR 5 Graphics Card HD687AZNFC.  I need a card to replace my ATI All-In-Wonder HD card which I am throwing in the waste basket even though I have used ATI hardware for
as long as I can remember.

I am not a gamer but would only  be using this to watch DVD and streaming movies etc so I am little
concerned that I may be buying more than I need!!!

I have home built PC running Vista Home Premium x64 with a Core I7 920 and 6gb memory.

Don't know where else to go to get some advise on this.

Thanks
Jim

This should have no compatibility problems and is actually a pretty good gaming configuration.  For simply DVD playback it will be under used though.
If you do go with this you might find performance a little better on a Win 7 x64 platform but Vista will do what you need.

YES, it was the compatibility issue that was my biggest concern.  I had seen varrious coments out 'there'
about video cards and mbs not being good for one another.

I also do a lot of Photoshop and Premier Elements stuff as well so maybe it will speed things up a little
for me.

Thanks Much
