I have a database housed on a mysql server installed in a Microsoft 2003 Server.<br />
<br />
I have some remote users that need to connect to the db through port 3306 using an odbc connection.<br />
<br />
I see in the latest mysql odbc install that you can select an ssl option to encrypt the data passing between the server and clients.<br />
<br />
Can someone please tell me how to configure the server and mysql to accept an ssl odbc?<br />

ODBC Connection to Mysql using SSL

MySQL is an open source, relational database management system that runs as a server providing multi-user access to a number of databases. Acquired by Oracle in 2009, it is frequently used in combination with PHP installations, powering most of the WordPress installations.

MySQL Server

Windows Server 2003 was based on Windows XP and was released in four editions: Web, Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter. It also had derivative versions for clusters, storage and Microsoft’s Small Business Server. Important upgrades included integrating Internet Information Services (IIS), improvements to Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy (GP), and the migration to Automated System Recovery (ASR).

Windows Server 2003

Encryption is the process of encoding messages or information in such a way that only authorized parties can read it. In an encryption scheme, the intended communication information or message, referred to as plaintext, is encrypted using an encryption algorithm, generating ciphertext that can only be read if decrypted. For technical reasons, an encryption scheme usually uses a pseudo-random encryption key generated by an algorithm. An authorized recipient can easily decrypt the message with the key provided by the originator to recipients, but not to unauthorized interceptors.
