(1) Using Verizon iPhone 4 (iOS4.2.6) mail to access my Outlook 2007 account prevents Outlook 2007 access and returns the Error Message below. Verizon iPhone 4 does not support iOS 4.3

The problem is iOS 4.X multitasking which suspends the iPhone 4 mail client (iOS4.2.6) (and iPod Touch 4g (iOS 4.3)). Force quitting iOS4 mail restores access. How can I configure PC Outlook 2007 to allow multiple access? I am using Verizon CDMA for iPhone 4 access and WiFi for iPod Touch access.

(2) Received mail is not kept on the iPhone (it is with my iPod Touch 4g (iOS 4.3) as it is with PC Outlook 2007 - Why not?

(3) Mail read with PC Outlook 2007 is then not available on iPhone/iPod Touch - Why not?

Error Message:

"Task 'jim_lacey@charter.net - Receiving' reported error (0x8004210E) : 'Your mailbox is temporarily unavailable because another e-mail message is being delivered to it or another mail application is accessing it.  The server responded: -ERR [IN-USE] account is locked by another session or for maintenance, try again.'"

Hi,

What are you using - POP3, IMAP to access your email?

I am currently using POP3, now with 'Leave a copy of messages on the server' checked in tools > Account Settings...Advanced - which solves (2) and (3), above. I know how to setup [Charter] IMAP4/SMTP - will this solve the multiple [iOS 4.x] acess problem?

Hi,

I believe that IMAP on the iPhone with full POP3 from Outlook may resolve your issue with simultaneous access.

Hi,

Alternatively, configure both to use IMAP.
