Hi EE,

At work, we are currently using Oracle Discoverer.
My question is, if Toad is web based or .exe. based. If Toad is  .exe based can it be executed in a .bat file and
fed the query name and ask it to export the results to excel file as i can do with Oracle discoverer as described below.

tx. sandra

Oracle Discoverer comes in 2 flavors:  web based   and desktop based (.exe).

The adv. of .exe is i can call the query using a .bat file like this:
Please note that whenever you see XXX_, that is a variable that i replace in vba with a meaningful value.

C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\bin\dis51usr.exe /connect XXX_SignOn/XXX_Password@odsp8 /opendb "SREG.Advisor_CAD_M3enrolled_M4unenrolled_forPostingOnBullentinBoard" /sheet ALL /parameter Parm_AcademicPeriod   xxx_parm1 /export XLS xxx_ExcelFile  /batch

toad is a windows executable (.exe)

it does have scripting capabilities that can be invoked via batch files

the above is for Toad for Oracle, I'm not as familiar with the "analyst" version though

it is still a windows executable, but I'm not sure about the extent of its scripting

no, there are no training videos that come with the product itself

but Toad has pretty good documentation
even better are the online resources like the toad wiki and yahoo groups

I have confirmed you can create task scripts then execute them from the command line
it'll look something like this..,

"C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Data Analysts 2.7\Toad.exe" -batch=true "d:\temp\tda_Script_1.tas"
