Windows Anytime Upgrade seems to be the way to go now.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/windows-anytime-upgrade

And yes, it is basically just adding features onto Windows 7, so drivers wise you should see no change.

You can purchase the Anytime Upgrade directly from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/buy/windows-7-upgrade-home-premium-to-ultimate.aspx

Or slightly cheaper from some other places:
http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Windows-Anytime-Upgrade-Ultimate/dp/B002JZ1QWA

Anytime Upgrade takes 10 minutes and a reboot and you're done.

Drivers are all the same between versions, so no worries there.  All you have to do is go to Start, All Programs, Anytime Upgrade, enter your Ultimate product key ... 10 minutes with a reboot and your running Ultmate.

IT, Stop Being Called Into Every Meeting

Highfive is so simple that setting up every meeting room takes just minutes and every employee will be able to start or join a call from any room with ease. Never be called into a meeting just to get it started again. This is how video conferencing should work!

The DVD is not enough alone to upgrade it ... you can use your disk, but it will take longer, and either way ... you need your Ultimate product key/license key.  With AU, all you need is your key.

If the upgrade went through ok and you are running Ultimate, then sounds like you need to open a new question for advice on that specific error.
