Getting decline notice before receipt is sent

We are moving our store from OsCommerce to ZenCart and have it 99% done. We have an authorize.net merchant account and everything is inputted for Authorize.net (SIM) method of payment. The ONLY glitch we are having is if someone goes through the checkout process, they are emailed a receipt and so is the admin - this is all good. But if the card is declined, we dont' find out til the next day in Authorize.net How can we stop the transaction and notify the client right away if their card is declined so no receipt or notice of order goes out unless the card is approved?

How to set up the Authorize.net SIM payment module might help.

I don't know if you are using the staging servers or your live account though.  Even though the staging servers should act the same as the live account, sometimes there are some issues.

If you are doing a live transaction (and you have Authorize.net not checking cards), this might be an issue.  If you are working on your live account, you might contact Authorize.net to see what is happening.  They will be able to see what you transmit and what they send back.

Thanks corey - we have gone through these steps. Authorize.net isn't being any help at all. I'll see if I can get a different help person this time.

Yes - keep calling.  It's just like any other company - depending on who answers your call, you might get help.  Consider even asking for a supervisor - this sometimes will either re-consider their stance or the supervisor will help.  And I know how frustrating this can be, but I would be nice.  I don't know you per se, but when I was selling the LinkPoint gateway and my customers had issues, I could get really irritating to the management over there.  :)  I just always felt if I had my name "attached" to a certain product, that product should offer great support and features.

After a few years dealing with them, I decided to support the Quantum Gateway.  It's free and there is no extra fees for MaxMind, recurring billing, storing the credit card numbers, etc.
