Hi,

I have tried do backup data base SQL server 2005 using DPM 2007. Show this message when start the job.

DPM could not start a recovery, consistency check, or initial replica creation job for SQL Server 2008 database FPCSQLDES-01\TesteDPM on fpcsqldes-01.FPC.CORP for following reason:
 (ID 3170)

An unexpected error occurred during job execution. (ID 104 Details: The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003))

Retry the operation.

The destination of backup is TAPE .

Somebody have idea about this problem ?

I think this problem don´t have concern with tape drive because other all jobs work normally. I think this problem beteween  SQL Server service vss writer and DPM .

Thank very much

I put user network service (local) for start sql vss write. The first problem is when I have tried open the computer SQL server doesn´t show me more, data base SQL only Share and Volumes. The log about erro for do jobs have changed too.

DPM could not start a recovery, consistency check, or initial replica creation job for SQL Server 2008 database SQLSERVER\TestDPM on name_serer_DPM for following reason:
 (ID 3170)

The VSS application writer or the VSS provider is in a bad state. Either it was already in a bad state or it entered a bad state during the current operation. (ID 30111 Details: Unknown error (0x80042318) (0x80042318))

did you follow the thread?

*********************Quotes*********************
Although the download link specifies only for Vista, it applies for Server
2008 as well. Please go ahead and install the KB followed by the integration
services on the guest VM and let us know if it works well.

http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/...962&kbln=en-us

In the meantime, can i update the integrated services on each VM, or do i
have to wait till i restart the server?

You do need to wait for the restart, and after updating the integration
services, the VMs need to be restarted too.

Try, read up to see if this is similare to your problem, and report back in this thread

Well since it's a Virtual machine, I would try it (do a backup first ofcourse).

The patch was originally for Vista, but works on W2008. It wouldn't suprise me it it works on W2008 R2 aswell.

Do a backup and try it out.

You're welcome.

Curious though, did you try the patch, or did you choose some alternative way to handle the problem. I would like to know if you tried the patch, and it failed. This feedback would be good for me.
