Hi faizbaig,

Sort of, yes.  You can sync multiple devices to iTunes and all of the Apps will go into the iTunes common pot.  You can then choose which apps get installed to which devices.  A single paid app can be installed on up to five iWhatevers.

Almost all iPhone apps will work on an iPad.  Apps that are designed specifically for the iPads will not work on the smaller devices unless they have a + icon in the App Store or in iTunes.  That icon indicates the app is universal and will work on both types of devices.  Native iPhone apps without the + still work on the iPad but run at native iPhone resolution and can look a little crappy.

Emails and Calendars do not get synced naturally but it is very easy to set up multiple devices to check the same email account.  Just use an IMAP based account and every device will see the same emails.

Calendars are a little trickier, but the same general advice applies.  The best way to go is to use a Google Calendar and sync all your devices to that account.  MobileMe will also let you sync one calendar amoung multiple devices.

If you use POP the email is removed from the server so you can't do a simple IMAP solution.  In that case you are pretty much limited to MobileMe
