A person in the office is using a mac and using outlook 2011 to connect and get her e-mails from exchange server 2007.  However she is having difficulty at her conference connecting.  She says she is getting the following message:

An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic.

However I am using outlook 2011 on my mac and I have not experienced this issue.  Is it just maybe there is too much traffic on the network where she is at?

Is the conference in your network? If not then how is she connecting to your network?

No it's not. Outlook 2011 uses EWS so a VPN is not necessary.

Have you checked to ensure the ews site is working? Normally checking to ensure the web app shpuld be sufficient. Https://outsidedomain/owa. Also she should check the web app from her laptop as well to ensure she has connectivity to your server and that there is nothing blockin from her  side

check with the admin on the other location to see if it can be unblocked if the user is frequenting their office alot. Or maybe she could just check her emails on her smartphone. I guess at least now you know what the issue was.

All the best.
