I would like to find the registry key in XP that changes the folder option under the general tab from "single click item" to "double click item".

Thanks!

Search the Registry for the Keyword "ShellState"

You should find this under: HKEY_USERS\<UniqueID>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Back up the values

Change the "ShellSet" hex value to hex:1c,00,00,00,41,08,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,
00,00,\00,00,00,00,09,00,00,00

Change the "IconUnderline" hex value to hex:03,00,00,00

Or use the method described on the Microsoft KB at
How to Force Change to Single-Click Mode Using .reg File
