SQL Server2008

I have a sql server 2008 with a default instance, I move a configuration management database from a sql server 2005 to the new sql server 2008 and I could connect to the database. the problem is: the collation was different and I was requested to create a new instance on the new 2008 server with the collation of the database. I created the new name instance and move the configuration management database to it and then try to run the configuration program but I could not connect the configuration management database on the new name instance, I received this message: configuration manager R2 sp2 could not connect or execute sql query.
Does anyone knows what could be the problem.
