Looking for software that can "crawl" a network & design a Visio diagram of the servers & networking equipment.

What sort of programs are available that can do this?

it may will NOT produce a visio diagram, but you'll get at least the picture, and you can 're-draw' the map in Visio. (at least half the job is done automatically)

This was a feature in Visio 2003 => http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio-help/what-happened-to-the-autodiscovery-feature-HA001093558.aspx

You could install 2003 again and install the addon and try to use it. Alternativly you could use http://www.spiceworks.com/ which does'nt create visio diagrams but also provide you with an up to date network map of your network. And it's free. It also has a lot more detection capacities like reading out switches and firewalls... and it's free :)

And also take a look at this: LANsurveyor Express they say they'll do it for visio: http://www.solarwinds.com/products/LANsurveyorExpress/

SolarWinds LANSurveyor does the mapping way more advanced, but comes with a price , whooping 1625USD : http://www.solarwinds.com/products/lansurveyor/
