Perform Manual IPL on iSeries 9406-520

I have a 9406-520 and I want to do a manual IPL, because nobody can access it. I also do not have a console. Can you please give me step by step instructions how to IPL from the control panel? Thanks!

By the way, this is a "Normal" IPL, not a "Manual" IPL.

A Manual IPL requires the operator to use a console to respond to various prompts as the system starts up, so you cannot do a Manual IPL without some sort of local console, remote console, or HMC.

Thanks, I will try
I don't have enough letters, I have 02  B  N and on the second line I have T, I don't see any S or V, and when I press enter it goes to 02. The instructions say "exit function 02" How? I don't have an Exit button, if I change it to function 01, nothing happens, and I have no function 03, I just have 01, 02 and 04, please help, thanks!
Sorry, Option 3 is only available in Manual mode.  Some of the Option 2 settings are probably only accessible in Manual mode, too.  Just set the B and N options, press Enter twice, and press the Power button (assuming the system is currently powered-down, of course).

After you set your IPL options, press the Power button to start the IPL.

actually the system is not powered down (I don't think) it had the following message A6005008, which I look it up and I think it said the console was missing...! Do I still do what you said above? Thanks!
I went to 02 B N and P on the second line and pressed Enter and it went to 02 only and press Enter again and it's pointing to B again, there is an arrow under B and nothing happens!
can I just unplug this machine, and plug it back in so it will start working?
Missing console message usually comes up if you try a Manual IPL with no console attached.

Power down (press the power switch, you'll get prompted with the "O" symbol, press power switch again)

Once the system is down, then attempt a B-Normal IPL.

Don't recommend pulling the plug.  You can leave the system unable to IPL.  Plus there's almost never a need to do that.

I have 02 on the screen and I press power button, but nothing changes still 02 on the screen, I even kept is pressed for 10 sec and nothing changed
it goes in a loop, what the heck is Exit function 02? when I am at 02 B N T I press Enter and it takes me to just 02 and in the book it says "exit function 02", how in the world do I IPL now, what do I press, because if I press Enter again it goes back to 02 B N T and if I press the power nothing happens, I'm stuck!!!
You exit function two when you hit Enter that last time.  When you've exited function 02, the Increment/Decrement keys will change the function number.

Need to be in Manual mode to do a Manual powerdown from the power switch.

Let's take this from the top.  I'm not in front of a machine now, so this might not be press-for-press, but it is close:

Navigate using Up/Down to function 02.
Press Enter
Select "B" with up/down
Press Enter
Select "M with up.down
Press Enter twice

Press the Power button twice to power down.

I did that and now it's showing 01 B M V=F and on the next line P and the power button is blinking green
it's going to message A6005008 and stopping there.
You've succeeded in starting a Manual IPL.  Now you need to power down again, switch to a Normal IPL, and power back up.
So instead of a M I put a N?
Yeah, you can only power down using the Power button if you are in "M"anual mode.

Once you've powered down, THEN switch to "N"ormal mode, and power up.  You can't do a Manual IPL if you don't have a console.

By the way, if you plan to use this system, you need to think about getting some kind of console attached.

it works, thanks!
Happy to help.  Glad it worked out!
