We have a number of speed issues with our sage installation. We are running version 16.0.4.113
On the server machine (windows 7 pro) we have the following issue
Producing the e-mail statement amongst others is taking a painful length of time. This is true if we choose to e-mail the statement or select File which saves as PDF.

I have tried disabling the anti-virus but that had minimal effect. (Avast Free)
As an additional, is it possible to make sage e-mail a pdf copy of a statement rather produce an html file?

For the network computers (7 pro), we have the same issue, although the process of producing statements and invoices takes a long time where as on the server machine there is no delay doing this. Also the network computers can not print a report directly, they must first Preview and then print, the server however can choose to print directly.

Thanks

V2010 introduced a lot of extra speed issues.

One of the biggest is the additional of multiple addresses for each customer,  This make a lot of reports (including layouts for emails) even more slow.

You can make these go faster by deleting the links to the un-needed tables, I would need to see your layout to see if this is the case.

The report can be sent as a PDF attached to an email, it is all in email settings.
see http://www.makingithappen.co.uk/guides/emailreports.htm for more details

How many customer records have you got?

Can you post the email layout?

You should install all the update for your version
http://www.sage.co.uk/accountsupdates/

The current build is 16.0.17.0158

What happens on the work station to prevent them from printing directly to the printer, is the option missing, does it crash.

I think that this really should have been posed as 3 questions not 1.

1/ Slow report generation
2/ How to do an email PDF
3/ Missing Print option on workstations

Are these 32 bit or 64 bit versions of windows 7?

Have you configured the exclusions for Avast ?

This guide also cover the report designer tweak that keeps it from having it's temporay files scanned by the AV/

Sorry for delay on reply, we eventually reverted the reports back to an older version which did not ask for additional addresses. This sorted the problem.

Thanks very much.

Note that some reports for earlier version no longer give the correct numbers!

I found this with the Transactional TB/BalanceSheet/P&L  so be careful.

I would just move the reports I needed rather than the whole lot.
