sql 2005 -> 2008 in place vs fresh

on a standard edition , is it better to uninstall 2005 and then reinstall 2008, compared to upgrade?

We've been doing in place migration of our dev/test/production 2005 servers to 2008 without an issue. If you don't  have dev/test environments leave the databases in 90 compatibility mode initially, and test them one by one if you want to move them to 100 compatibility (or you could just leave them at 90 indefinitely).
