It "is" the future. Cisco server hardware, VMWare and EMC all together in a joint venture. They just announced a new facility to be opened in Richardson Texas.
Cisco started a server line with zero "baggage" - no backward compatibility issues, no existing manufacturing lines that have to be modified, etc. Ground up to build the best server for Virtualization, partnered with VMware and EMC for storage.
