windows perfmon only has duration of 1:40
I am trying to determin if a hard disk is slowing down and should be replaced.
I am using the perfmon to look at disk read/write/queue lengths etc.
My test involved allowing the computer to boot and go idle. Then ask the machine to stream video or defrag the disk. (I'm looking for something to cause disk activity that can be baselined).
I am taking a snapshot with perfmon on the counters I am monitoring but the duration is only 1:40min. Is this a rolling average of the last 1:40? Can I change this duration to pull a 5min average?
Once I have this snapshot I will clone the drive to a new comparable drive and will bench mark again.
In essence I am looking for a good way to bench mark each drive with perfmon and make a comparison.
(also this dell system doesn't support smart :()
Thanks in advance for your input
