How do I enter service mode on my Ricoh Aficio SP C312DN printer?

I have had a Ricoh Aficio SP C312DN for 5 months and after a brownout I am receiving an SC 542 error.  I know this error indicates a fuser temperature problem and I would like to clear the error to see if it happens again before replacing any parts.

Not familiar with the specific model, and even their user manual doesn't have a full list of menu functions that I could find.

Best I can do is point you to [Menu] -> Maintenance and look through the options there.

There may not be a reset option like you are looking for.  In that case, powering the unit off, waiting a few minutes, and powering back on will take the place of that specific menu option.

I have check the manual as well with no luck.  I can't get past the error message to access the Menu options.  And, I have tried disconnecting power for approx. 10 minutes with no luck.  Through researching this issue I have found that the Ricoh techs have had to use the reset option after replacing the fuser unit on a similiar model, SP c311n, but no codes to enter service mode have been revealed.

Then I'd try powering it down, unplugging it.  Pull out the fuser (instructions are in the manual).  Then reinstall the fuser and power the unit back on.  that should force a test of the fuser.

The reason i don't think they have a reset option is that when there is one, they will typically advise you to go through those steps at the end of the fuser replacement instructions. And this manual just has you restart the printer.  In fact, none of the various troubleshooting steps had anything recommending a reset of current errors, just some "power off, power on" steps.

A Ricoh tech had to come onsite to reset the error.  Still no codes revealed.
