Sharepoint Meeting Workspace Recuring Limit

Meeting dates no longer show up in left pane for recuring meeting. There seems to be a 1000
event limit in the calendar view. Need a work around for navigating to previous next dates and
a specific date. Custom web part maybe. Typing in date into URL works but is not user friendly
enough.

One of the things about SharePoint that you will find you have to become creative is the large list problems like the one you are facing.  SharePoint is infamous in this regard for having to deal with large lists and how to fool SharePoint to play nice with all the list items. Here is 2 ideas on how to deal with this.

1. Deletion of really old items

One way to deal with this is by setting up a workflow to delete a list item after X amount of time.  Say two years.  Not ideal if you want to save everything.  If that is the case skip on to the next concept to trick/work with SharePoint

2. Use limiting Views

Another way of dealing with this is by using limiting views.  This certainly could help you tell SharePoint to limit the amount of items returned.  For example.  Create a new view.  Call the View 2010 Meetings.  In the view filter the items that only occured during the year of 2010.  This way if there is only 2 meetings a week with this re-occuring meeting, you will only have 100 meetings returned.  Create a view for each year up to when the list first started.  Not perfect but a work around that could be affective.
