Events not appearing in codebehind file

I'm having a problem with my web application that just started.  When I try to add an event to any of my controls the code is generating in my content page instead of getting added to my code behind file. When I double-click a control or click on an event in my properties list it usually opens the vb codebehind file and generates the code in that file.

This is only happening with some of my pages.  I am using VS 2008

Any ideas on why this is happening and how to fix it?

when you created the new aspx page did you check the box where it says generate code behind file?

in your content page the very first line

<%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="WebApplication1._Default" %>

What does your say for the CodeBehind?

Apparently we had some gremlins on our server.  The file worked fine before with no problems.  Nothing had been changed and I had already checked the page directive and the code behind file setting and everything was good.  I think the file somehow got corrupted.  We were able to restore a previous backup of the file and now it is working again.
