I have successfully connected Excel Spreadsheets to Crystal Report in the past. &nbsp;This one, for some reason unknown to me, keeps giving me an error I have never seen before. &nbsp;First it says &quot;Failed to retrieve date from the database&quot; then it says &quot;Database Connector Error: 'DAO Error Code: 0xc5b, source: DAO.Database , Description: &nbsp;The field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add. &nbsp;Try inserting or pasting less data.<br />

I am trying to insert one field from the spreadsheet and find any related records in a corresponding table. &nbsp;The link between the tables was not a problem. &nbsp;Inserting the primary key field from the spreadsheet is not an issue. &nbsp;But when I try to group by the primary key I get the error listed above.<br />

Anyone ever have this happen and figure out why?<br />

Error Message when using an Excel Grouper in Crystal XI.

Crystal Reports is a business intelligence application from SAP SE. It is used to graphically design data connections and report layouts from a wide range of data sources including Excel spreadsheets, Oracle, SQL Server databases and Access databases, BusinessObjects Enterprise business views, and local file-system information. Report designers can place fields from these sources on the report design surface, and can also deploy them in custom formulas (using either BASIC or Crystal's own syntax), which are then placed on the design surface. Crystal Reports also supports subreports, graphing, and a limited amount of GIS functionality.
