Amazon Affiliate Commssions for Multiple Purchases from Single Link

This should be a simple question for those with Amazon Affiliate Knowledge.  If I redirect a person from my website to make a purchase from Amazon, does the affiliate link and commission relate to that item only, or is it calculated on the total number of items that the person purchases at the amazon store based on that session using your AmazonAffiliateID. (please supply link to reputable info to confirm the answer).

In the event only one link is required to represent your AffiliateID transfer, this would eliminate the need for a shopping cart to register multiple items.

My website/blog will use a simple website using .NET 4 framework and C#, with integrated XML and SQL2008 to manage information transfer. Any tips related to the use of these technologies would be welcomed, but not required to answer this question.

It is referred items only. If you refer them a sale that is $100, and then they buy an additional $3,000 worth of stuff, you only get commission for the $100.

The above link talks about referred item sales, but does nit specifically answer your question. However, I can tell you as an amazon associate myself, you only get paid on items that you advertise on your site where the referral id is in the URL. When you refer them to a site, that first item contains your referral I'd in the URL, but if they add something else in the cart via search or otherwise, you don't get paid for those additional items.

Thanks DrDamnit... I have since established a number of  basic linked accounts and resources and have my first blog and a sample widget running live. Too Cool!
