Logging into RDWeb for a second time as the same user results in the remote app producing a black window. The first time round all is fine but if the client logs out, closes IE then restarts IE types in the https url, signs in with the name and password, selects the app to run, they then get a black window (refer to screen shot). On the server the app actually seems to open and run but this does not show on the windows 7 client computer. remote app client window

I have configured my windows 7 computer to run the remote app from the start menu. The new feature of R2 and Windows 7 but the same applies. The first run is perfect but subsequent runs gives a black screen as shown above. I have found that if I log the user off by logging onto the server as administrator going to remote desktop services manager and forcing a log off of the affected user. That uses can once again run a remote app.

I have discovered that I can run a remote app multiple times if I do it quickly. Eg run the calculate app then exit then run the calculate app again in quick succession. I can do this over 10 times. However if I run the calculator app and then exit, wait 5 minutes and then try to run it again. I get a dialog box asking for my credentials again and then the above black windows appears and the only way to get things working again is to force logoff the user as the administrator.

The server generates events
Desktop windows manager 9003 "re a composite theme is not in use"
Desktop windows manager 9009 "re has exited with code 0x40010004"

I have already changed the theme to the standard windows theme away from the aero theme with no success

In the Windows 7 event log I get.
WinLogon 6000 "re SessionEnv  was unable to handle a notification event
Desktop windows manager 9009  Desktop windows managerhas exited with 040010004

Got it..

The problem of logging in remotely is being caused by the new Aero experience that works specifically with Windows 7.

I have found that if I stop the "Themes" service on the server the problem goes away.
