Here's an easy question.... I'd like to get a recommendation for a truly free web-hosting site.<br />

As part of a current class, I'd like to create a somewhat interactive site that other students can access. &nbsp; &nbsp;<br />
<br />
I don't want to pay for the site, nor do I want to have it shut down after e.g. 12 months. &nbsp; Also, although I'm looking for a free site, I'd prefer a site that does not include any advertising. &nbsp; Finally, I'd like to be able to chose a customized domain name. &nbsp;<br />

Any recommendations for a URL (free, no advertising).<br />

A miscellany is defined as a "collection of various pieces of writing by different authors", but it has come to mean something "Of items gathered or considered together of various types or from different sources" or "a collection or group composed of members or elements of different kinds". The word "miscellaneous" comes from the Latin word "miscere", meaning "to mix." You might have heard the expression "a mixed bag," which applies when you don't quite know what you're going to get. A Web service is a method of communication between two electronic devices over a network. It is a software function provided at a network address over the Web with the service always on as in the concept of utility computing. A web service has an interface described in Web Services Description Language (WSDL). Other systems interact with the Web service in a manner prescribed by its description using SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) messages. There are two major classes of Web services: REST-compliant web services, and Arbitrary web services.

Web Services

A web server refers to the software that helps to deliver web content that can be accessed either through the Internet or through an intranet. The primary function of a web server is to store, process and deliver web pages to clients. The communication between client and server takes place using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). The most common use of web servers is to host websites, but there are other uses such as gaming, data storage, running enterprise applications, handling email, FTP, etc.
