My question is, my friend is living in another town. I wanted give him softwares. Is it possible to create ftp in my computer and give him the link so that he can download from my system.
Is there any such thing. I have tried googling but i dint find correct one. Please help me if i can do the same.
Thanks,
Venkat

This solution is only available to members.
To access this solution, you must be a member of Experts Exchange.
Open Internet Explorer and type in ftp://ftp.microsoft.com in the address bar. Then basically, just click on Page on the toolbar where the tabs are, and then go all the way down to where it says, Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer an click on it. It takes you back to windows explorer and will let you open a Ftp file..
Once you have the FTP server setup, you will probably have to open port 21 on your DSL / Cable Router
You can install FTP just like kpmartin says, just follow those intructions, but really.. why? Windows FTP is really a poor FTP server there are plenty of Free servers that are very easy to install and easy to maintain compared to the MS version. There Cerberus FTP server is just such. There are many many others though, just do a Google search.
