What is the function of letters in translation rules?  Why would you want
to say strip a 9 and replace that with letters?  Thanks!

!

 rule 1 /^9\(.*\)/ /ABCD9\1/
 rule 2 /^\(...\)$/ /ABCD\1/

Typically, letters are only used with BACD scripts because they are not directly dialable by any end user.
This translation most likely forwards calls to an automated attendant script.
