I have downloaded and installed the Dynamics Visual Studio Developer Tools.

GP10 and VS 2008 Pro

I ran the setup and everything appeared to run fine....
However, when I go to Project - Add Component, the 'Microsoft Dynamics GP Form' template is not there for me to choose from.

Is there sonmething else I need to do beyond running the setup file?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

VS Tools for GP 10 was released before support for Visual Studio 2008 was released, so you have to install the latest service pack for VS Tools.

After you install the latest GP 10 VS Tools service pack, go into Control Panel, Add/Remove, and select VS Tools and click on Change.

In the installation options, select VS 2008 Support and complete the install.

After that, the GP project type should show up.

Thanks,

Hi,

It turns out I wrote a blog post about this issue that I forgot about:

http://dynamicsgpland.blogspot.com/2010/01/installing-gp-vs-tools-10-with-visual.html

The item in Add/Remove is called "Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 SDK".

The GP 10 VS Tools SDK and VS Tools Service Packs are at:

https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/downloads/servicepacks/visualstudiotoolssdkformicrosoftdynamicsgp10.htm?printpage=false

Here is KB Article 968060 on the issue:

https://mbs2.microsoft.com/Knowledgebase/KBDisplay.aspx?WTNTZSMNWUKNTMMYSZRRNOTTUKOOSTLLKSSPOMVTSMSUKLLYXOTUSQWKSTRKKWRX

To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods:

If Visual Studio 2005 is installed, make sure that Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 is installed.

Note If Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is installed, the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup program installs Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 to work together with the SQL Server project types. You must upgrade this version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 to Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1. Then, you can install the Microsoft Dynamics GP Visual Studio 2005 Tools templates.

If no Visual Studio 2005 is installed or if the Visual Studio 2005 templates are not required, disable the option to install the Visual Studio 2005 templates. To do this, follow these steps: 1. In the Select Features window, click Visual Studio 2005.  Click Entire Feature will not be available.

If no Visual Studio 2008 is installed or if the Visual Studio 2008 templates are not required, disable the option to install the Visual Studio 2008 templates. To do this, follow these steps:1. In the Select Features window, click Visual Studio 2008.  Click Entire Feature will not be available.
