How to move a license from one server to another

Hi all,

I wanna move one CA license from one server to another and I don´t know how to do it.

Today, I have 5 licenses in use. Then, I prepared a new server and I used a trial version during some time. Now, the trial license expired and I want move one of five licenses to this new server.

I found in web that I have to release one license. Well, this was easy. The problem is re-register this license in my new server.

The new server appears in backup window. But the job faill with the message "Agent Expired".

The server where I released the license is no more in backup job.

The license window shows four servers.

Waht´s wrong ? How can I include (register) the new server ?

Anyone can help me ?

The Ca is running in Server 2003 R2 and the client in a server 2008 R2.

Thanks at all.

Open the ARCserve Manager and on the top you will find Help menu
Click on help and choose the last option which gives an option to view licenses

Then click on add license and copy the license keys what you have previously added.

Now go to the same location on the other server and add the licenses

Hi Dexter,

My problem is a little bit different. I don´t wanna move Server CA licenses. I wanna move "client" server licenses.

I have five licenses and six client servers. Then I wanna move one license from server 5 to server 6.

Example:

1 - On CA Manager, click Server Admin and the click on the server name.
2 - Click Manage Licenes.
3 - On License Status, click Client agent for Windows.
4 - On Licensed Machines you will see all the client servers that have a license assigned.

I wanna insert a new server in this list (server 6).

The old server (Server 5) was in this list. Then I uncheck It and it desapeared from list.

Now, how can I incluse server 6 in the list ?

I don´t know how ...

Thanks ...

now since you have released the license from server 5 by un-checking it. I would suggest you to run a small backup of the server 6 ....so that it can get license from the backup server and the license what u have released from server 5 will get assigned to server6.

In ARCserve its always suggested to add all the license on the backup server and when u run the backup of sume client machine then that machine automatically picks up the license from the backup server at the time of backup.

once u run backup of server 6 and then go to view licenses on the backup server then u will find the released license assigned to the server 6.
