Hello Gurus,

I have had a firewall installed on my company (SSG 140) and asked to be configured so that it stops spam & antivirus being sent /received through my email server
Mdaemon.

What is the best way to check that this is working ?
I am asking because I am receiving complaints from my ISP that my email server is sending too many spams emails...even after the configuration.

Now I have tried to send a test eicar file..and it blocked it from getting in my internal mail server.
Now I need to do the test from In to OUT. can u point me to a way to do this ?
how can I create a spam mail on purpose and send it and make sure that it got stopped ?

thanks

Your firewall is only checking what you tell it to.  So, if your firewall is not doing any type of SPI or IDS/IPS, it is not going to arbitrarily drop packets containing specific text or patterns.  You did not specify any type of anti-spam software on the mail server.  If your ISP is complaining about your spam, make sure you do not have an open-relay mail server.  You can check it here:  http://www.dnsgoodies.com/

If you check out fine on that site, I would look and users or the mail server itself being compromised.
